Stop comparing yourself to others and be the best you can

Being healthy and fit isn’t just about having a healthy body, but it’s also about keeping a healthy mind. It’s so important, especially with social media that you don’t sit and compare yourself to others. As much as I love social media it can also be a very negative space of comparison and bullying. It’s so important in life to stay true to who you really are so you can become the best version of yourself you can be. As at the end of the day there is no one else out there like you and that’s something that’s special. Back in my modelling days I always felt so insecure with who I was. I had no self-belief, I was depressed and would worry myself sick about everything. Now life looks a little different and it can for you too.

Stop comparing yourself to others
Now I personally aim to be fit and strong not skinny and I aim to be MY best not to be like someone else. I see so many girls, especially young girls obsessed with trying to be skinny or trying to be like someone else and they resort to unhealthy measures to do so. They have pictures of thin women they idolise and often do anything to look that way. A lot of these women they look up to are either unhealthily thin or naturally thin and it makes it very unrealistic and unhealthy to aim for. Please girls, don’t obsess over how skinny you are or how much you weigh and start focussing on your well-being so you can have the best chance at living the longest, happiest and healthiest life possible. Beauty comes in many different shapes, sizes and I really hope you all realize how beautiful you really are just by being you.

Follow your dreams
Make sure you are following your dreams and no one else’s. We can have pressure put on us to live a certain way but if that’s not working out for you or it’s not making you feel good then don’t do it. Don’t sit there and think that your dreams are just fantasies that will never be achieved. Have faith in yourself that you can go out there and make your own dreams a reality. If you don’t know what your dreams are just yet, then focus on the things in your life that you love and bring you pure happiness. As at the end of the day life is too short to do stuff that makes us unhappy. When you do what you love and are living your dreams or working towards them, it’s hard not to be the happiest best person you can be.

Love yourself with flaws and all
We all have flaws, that’s what makes us beautifully human. Life is about learning to love yourself with those flaws no matter what. If you sit there and give negative self talk then you will never reach your true potential. I hear so many girls being so hard on themselves and I don’t think they realise just how talk like that can hold you back. Learn to start appreciating yourself with everything, flaws and all and know you are good enough. If you find it hard to love yourself then start with some daily affirmations. Say these words right now:

"I will (insert what your goal is)"
"I am good enough"
"I am capable"
"I deserve this"
"I don't care what others think"
"I'm doing this for me"
"I take control of my life"
"I am happy, positive and determined"
"Nothing and NOBODY is going to stop me!"

Even come up with your own affirmations if you want. Stand in front of the mirror and read them daily. Even if you don’t believe the words in the beginning, when you do it enough you will start to see how simple positive words can have a dramatic impact on your life and mindset.

It’s okay to fail
Accept that failure is part of life, in fact failure can be a really good thing. When you fail it means you are pushing yourself to grow as a person. Just because you fail at something one time doesn’t mean you should give up and stop trying. In fact you should use it as motivation to keep trying harder. When we push ourselves this way it means we are constantly learning, constantly growing and making ourselves the best we can be.

Remember don't try to be like someone else because as you will never truly be content. Focus your energy on being your best and treat your body well with lots of nutritious food, exercise and try to be positive about life and yourself. Accept and appreciate yourself for being unique and work with it to make the most of it. Always, always aim to be YOUR best and nobody else.
