Did you know that making time in your day to do the things you want to do, the things that make you really happy, are really important for your overall health? Not just your mental health, but your physical health too!
Here are just some of the reasons you should try make more time to sing, laugh, dance and be merry!
Singing: Sure, not everyone has been gifted with the voice of an angle, but that doesn’t mean we can’t all sing! I love cranking the volume up in my car when I am driving and singing as loud and as passionately as I can. It’s a fantastic way of releasing stored tension in your muscles, helping you relax and unwind. Singing has also been proven to stimulate the release of endorphins (those happy hormones), as well as decrease the levels of cortisol, which is the stress hormone in your body.
Laughing: Laughter is good for the sole… And it is good for your body as well! It cleanses the lungs by taking oxygen rich air into the deeper lobes and flushing out stagnant air that has been resting there. It also stimulates endorphins, reduces stress hormones and it even improves the function of blood vessels which helps increase blood flow! So watch a comedy, hang out being silly with friends and family, or simply get stuck into those classic Christmas cracker jokes for a good laugh!
Dancing: I just love dancing and free styling it up to my favourite tunes. Dancing can be more than a bit of fun though, it releases tensions in the body, reduces stress and it also tones your muscles and stimulates both your respiratory and cardiovascular systems. So never miss an opportunity to boogie, for the sake of your health!
