We all crave a fast metabolism, the ability to burn through calories and be bouncing full of energy all day long. Fast metabolisms not only enhances the way we utilize and store fats, it also pumps us full of energy, both mentally and physically.

So for this reason, finding foods that work in similar ways to thermogenics (or an intense cardio sesh) can not only help us boost our metabolism but also keep us looking and feeling our best!

Here is a list of 5 (Meat and dairy free) foods that can help you boost your metabolism and get that healthy energy kick you want!

  1. Oats - Oats have many proven health benefits, including their ability to reduce the toxicity of bile acids (therefore helping proven cancers of the digestive system), lowering LCL (the ‘bad cholesterol’) levels, and reducing insulin spikes. To think that they may also help boost your metabolism makes these little goodies a great choice in most healthy diets.
     
  2. Psyllium Husks - These husks come from crushed seeds of the ‘plantago ovata’ plant. They provide similar benefits to oats, because of they are rich in soluble fibre. Meaning they help lower LCL, balance the acidity in the guts and reduce the risk of some cancers. Plus they can help boost your metabolism!
     
  3. Blueberries - Often toted as the ‘Brain food’, these delicious little berries are packed full of antioxidants and will provide you with a plethora of health benefits. Couple that with the fact that they can help amp up your metabolism makes them a fantastic breakfast choice! (Why not have them with your oats!?)

  5. Almonds - Packed full of fibre, antioxidants and healthy fats, these nutrient dense little powerhouses are a fantastic snack choice, or will enhance most smoothies or salads. Yummo!
