We have all heard the expression ‘An apple a day keeps the doctor away’, well maybe this expression should be changed to ‘Some apple cider vinegar a day….’. Okay, so it doesn’t quite have the same ring to it, however apple cider vinegar really does have some amazing health benefits, with numerous studies done to back up the claims!
Helps regulate blood sugar levels - Apple cider vinegar (ACV) can actually help regulate blood sugar levels? A study conducted by the Department Of Nutrition, in the Arizona State University showed that by having a tablespoon of ACV in water in the evening with a snack actually lowers the blood sugar readings the following morning. This is actually quite amazing news for people with type 2 diabetes.
Aids in digestive health - ACV actually supports the digestive system (and other organs) in numerous ways. It works as a natural solvent, removing accumulated waste from the liver and digestive tract. It also changes the PH levels in the guts, helping remove worms, parasites and some of the bad bacteria found here. Studies also indicate that it actually stimulates the growth of good bacteria in the guts, such as bifidobacteria and lactobacillus
Helps burn fat - Studies indicate that regular consumption of ACV can actually help you lower your BMI, and it does this because of the acetic acid which is one of ACV’s key components. It is believed that this acetic acid actually stimulates the certain genes in the body that work to break down fat cells.
It is also believed that ACV helps lower cholesterol levels, as well as triglyceride levels, meaning it supports your cardiovascular health!
So how do you use it?
Many people purchase a good quality, organic apple cider vinegar and take it by diluting a spoonful or two in water and drinking, which is actually not as unpleasant as you might think. However there is the good old fashioned way you can have it (which I think is much more enjoyable), why not make a delicious salad dressing that you can enjoy on your favourite salad!?
