Steamed salmon in garlic yogurt sauce

Salmon, steamed in lemon juice and herbs, is one of my favorite meals. It is rich in protein and omega 3 fatty acids, and it tastes amazing! This particular recipe also has a delicious garlic yogurt sauce that works really well with the fish and some steamed green beans.

  • 1 piece of salmon (or trout), skin removed
  • 1 lime
  • 1/2 lemon
  • A couple of sprigs of thyme or dill
  • Pinch of salt and pepper

For the sauce:

  • 1/2 cup Greek yogurt
  • 1/2 lime
  • 1 clove of garlic (large or small depending on your preference)
  • 1 tsp. Mayonnaise (optional)
  • 1/2 tsp. Honey
  • Pinch of salt and pepper

  1. Heat the oven to 180c and prepare a small baking dish by covering it with aluminum foil. This foil is going to be folded over the fish, so make sure there is enough of it hanging over the edges of the baking dish.
  2. Lay the fish in the center of the dish and squeeze the juice of both the lemon and lime over the fish.
  3. Sprinkle with some salt and pepper, then lay your chosen herbs over the top of the fish.
  4. Fold the foil over the fish, making it fairly airtight so that the steam gets caught inside.
  5. Bake for 20 -30 minutes. You can check to see if it is cooked to your liking by carefully unwrapping the top and using a fork to separate the flesh.
  6. Whilst your fish is baking, prepare the sauce by combining all the ingredients into a processor and pulsing a few times.
  7. When the fish is ready, serve with salad or steamed vegetables and pour your sauce over the top.
  8. Enjoy!
